DESCRIPTION:
![]() Last December I found an interesting article about the health enhancing importance of the ‘sunshine vitamin’, vitamin D3. It turns out that when the skin of our bodies is exposed to the ultraviolet rays in sunlight the exposure initiates a process that produces vitamin D3 in our bodies. The more our bodies are exposed to sunshine, the more vitamin D3 is produced by our bodies. During the winter months, when we experience less exposure to sunshine, our bodies synthesize less vitamin D3. The article exposes the serious health consequences of the vitamin D deficiency that fosters the development of twenty seven different serious diseases. The deficiency of vitamin D increases the risk of most, if not all of the deadly diseases that accompany the aging process. Removing vitamin D deficiency will reduce the risk of those deadly diseases that negatively affect senior health. The article provides specific details with the back up references about the consequences of low levels of vitamin D. For openers the preventative benefits of having optimum vitamin D levels are documented for reducing the occurrence of two of the best known gender specific cancers by 30 - 50%. In the case of coronary diseases, maintaining a sufficient level of Vitamin D is estimated to reduce the current number of deaths from coronary artery disease by more than 40%. Similarly, in one eight year study 86% of the fatal strokes in folks studied were correlated with small decreases in levels of vitamin D based on blood samples. The details about the preventative effects on the various diseases can be found at the following website: <http;//www.lef.org > under the heading “Consumer Alerts’ and in the article entitled: ‘Response to SELECT Study Published December 9, 2008 in JAMA’. | ||||

Veryinteresting. It is a toss up of getting the needed Vit D3 from the sun or getting too much sun and ending of with dredded skin cancer.

Yes, we need more Vit D. But getting it from sun not a good idea. Better from food or pills.
