| Personal Statement: | Many of us have problems that matter how we try to explain them to others, we fail, and thus we are terribly misunderstood. I am a normal, active young woman who sufferers from Panic Disorder. Few understand and they minimize what we are going though. Panic attacks come on unexpectedly. Yes, there are little things we can do to help ourselves, like being generally healthy and avoiding stress, but the chemicals misfiring in our brains take over. We know it is going to pass, but the time it takes to do so, whether a few minutes or more, feels like a very long time that we are suffering. When the attack passes, it leaves us exhausted, feeling generally weak and terrible. The recovery period can be a day or less, but the whole ordeal is frightening and horrible! |
